The question that's often asked is: “But aren't they huskies?” No, they're not Siberian huskies, the kind we usually encounter in South Europe, but Alaskan huskies. These dogs are lighter and better adapted to long distances, with great obedience (they are more “dogs” than “wolves”). Their appearance, however, remains very Nordic.
An Alaskan Husky is not simply the result of crossing a husky with another dog. Cross-breeding and selection began over a century ago, when North American gold seekers bred the best sled dogs of the day to create a line of dogs particularly suited to racing. Today, there are well-established lines of Alaskan huskies.
It's also important to note that an Alaskan Husky is not a hunting-type sled dog. The ESD (European Sleddog), often referred to as a “hound”, is a distinct breed. For example, our dog Amy is a Scandinavian Hound.
Although Alaskans and Hounds now account for around 90% of the world's sled dogs, these breeds are not recognized in France and are often excluded from certain competitions.
Why did we choose the Alaskan? We were looking for an ultra-hardy, obedient and cold-resistant dog, capable of taking part in mountain raids in summer and winter alike. The call of the Great North and long-distance races led us to them. Alaskans are the ideal dogs to help us realize our dreams. We currently have 35 dogs at home.

With us, there are no dog placements or premature euthanasia, as is the case with many other facilities in Scandinavia. Retirees enjoy the pack and our presence until the end of their lives. We love them just as much, whether they're young and successful or old and retired.

Adopted at 2 months old.
Cherko was the team's first harness dog! First as a monodog, then as a sled dog, he won many victories before retiring, always by our side.

Milos was a lively and very friendly young dog. Unfortunately, various health problems (OCD and stomach dilation) took their toll on him when he was only 10 months old.
